Task 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product

The audience age range that my thriller is aimed at is 16-25. The main reason for this is that it is a very common age range for films to be targeted at and is very easy to target at. In addition to this, it is a common fact that people within this age range have to most money to waste as it is not so much of a issue, hence if our film were to be produced properly then this would help us make more gross profit. Moreover, we would also hope to target mainstream audiences as terrorism is a common theme that has effected many people, therefore may relate to people's life bringing a connection between the film and it's audience. Similarly, it is not difficult to bring this film to the attention of mainstream audiences as terrorism is almost unescapable in the society we live in today, if journalists are not writing in newspapers about it then reporters are plastering all over televisions. The reason we chose the theme of a terrorist was also because not many people know a great deal about terrorism therefor people will be intrigued and attracted to it. According to research that I carried out on www.boxofficemojo.com, terrorist themed films that have been produced such as; air force one, flight 93, passenger 59, they have been very successful grossing up to $173,000,000, again another reason for us to make terrorist themed film.
In truth is, the films you are watching, the so-called "thoughtful terrorism films" . . . don't make any money. Now, part of the reason is, of course, recent circumstance. Your local cineplex, or by extension, the neighborhood Blockbuster, is supposed to be a means of escape, or at most. reflection. Since the interesting times we are living in haven't yet ended, how can we realistically ask an audience to "escape" by putting money down for Lions for Lambs, or Body of Lies when frankly, all it is going to do is remind them of what they're getting for free on CNN.
I found this article on forgeinpolicy.com, and I have to say that I heavily disagree about the circumstance. I belive that because as it is going on in the world around us, people will be intreged to know more about it.
